Welcome, I'm excited to present you with my documentary series, Echoes of Survival

Echoes is an experimental documentary series about the ambiguity of what it means to be an Armenian living in America today. 

In April 2015, during the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, I found myself drawn to the idea of how certain artists around the United States view themselves as Armenian, and how their identities shape their work. 

On the eve of April 24 of 1915 - hundreds of notable Armenian artists and intellectuals living in Istanbul were captured from their homes in the middle of the night, and were subsequently sent off to death camps near present day Ankara to be executed. As a kid, hearing about this I was always aware that art can be a very dangerous thing but also a beautiful thing that many see as a threat to their political agenda.

This project is an attempt to better understand who we are today, and how the culture has survived through these artists and their work. 

Each Monday through Feb 13th I will be posting a new episode to the series, which includes five different artists and one special episode about an entire community of artists.
